The Decision to Not Be

The people who make this decision, think they are being very smart. They think they have made the best decision possible - without seeming to have made a decision at all. They are supporting things as they are - without having the slightest awareness of what they are.

I saw this for myself, the last time I visited the States. I lived with a cousin, and his wife  - in Northern Virginia, part of the DC area. The first thing I noted about their lifestyle - was how much money they had, they were floating in it!

Without having the slightest awareness of where this money was coming from, or how it was being used. That, they thought, was none of their business. Somehow, things were working fine - and it was best to leave them alone.

I did not get along with my cousin and his wife. We were too different, and our differences could not be reconciled. They could not even be discussed. They had one unwritten rule - no serious discussions!

Americans have Chosen to Not Exist

To their minds this is perfectly logical, and the appropriate response to their situation.

And has the additional advantage, of baffling everyone. Because this strategy had never been used before. And no one knows how to counter it. All those people, who are no longer people, can consider themselves very clever.  They have won!

Let me return to their situation - what was it? It was a culture that did not like people. And the people rebelled, as a response to being treated this way. They did not understand what was going on, they only knew they didn't like it, whatever it was. And they did the easiest thing possible - they ceased to exist!

The result, was a nation that could not function. But this did not bother them, in the least. They got theirs, when the getting was good, and now everyone else will have to scramble for the scraps. 

Bear in mind, that I am taking about a generation gap here. The older generation was successful, accumulated enough wealth to retire on. Their children do not have much of a future, but they are able to overlook this, quite easily.

Americans are Bad - But they Resist Knowing this, With all Their Strength

They are in denial, and in fact - and have invented a kind of denial, by inventing a new form of being - not being.

They have erected an impenetrable barrier around themselves, that the facts cannot penetrate - using the simplest strategy imaginable. It's so simple, people cannot even believe it exists.

They will demand "How can not being, be?" But the reply is simple "Just look at the people around you, and report on what you see!" But they will reply "I don't see anything - and you must be full of shit!"

This is where we stand - two cultures, that cannot talk to each other. Because one of them - is not there!
