What is the Future for Us?

Is it going to be like the past? I am going to assume so. It will be like the change we went through with the introduction of the Computer, the biggest change in history. We did not change much at all. We just thought we did.

We might have gotten worse, I was in Silicon Valley, and I could not stand the place. People with Computers were strange beings with some big problems. They do not like other people, for one thing.

We have been telling ourselves the opposite. "Look how much better we are!" When this improvement has not amounted to much.

If we examine the many details of how we operate at the microscopic level (how the brain operates, for example) we will see how few of them have changed. They can't change very much, or we would die.

One of the most fundamental attributes we have, medically and mentally, is "No changes!" It took us millions of years to get where we are, and we are not throwing that away.

"Yes." you will agree, but some things have to change or we (and our world) will not survive!

This reasoning makes no difference at all. We will pass out of existence, like the dinosaurs.

Inventing new species is easier than changing old ones.

We will change, we can be sure of that. But what we will change to we cannot predict.
