Maybe.

It depends on where you were, where you are, and a few other things.

If you are in the right place (metaphorically speaking) it can put you in a better place. If not, it can't do you much good.

Software Development (another name for Programming) is very social. To succeed there, you have to be adept at its kind of socialization.

There are people, however, who are adept at seeming to socialize in this space. Hard to believe, I know.
