The Computer and its networks, the Internet and the Cellular have created a Virtual Reality that we do not know how to navigate yet.
This is not for lack of people who know what is going on (such as this guy) but a lack of people who will listen to them.
Most people are determined to be stupid. And elect people who are stupid, like them.
