My father was once a Marine himself, and was part the occupation of Haiti (1930-34). I knew another woman, in the Seventies, who had been a Marine, with her husband in Vietnam. Her husband re enlisted, and she promptly got a divorce - and married another man more interested in her, and less interested in fighting.
