My Brother and the BIA

My Brother was musically inclined, he had a fine voice and graduated from the U of Indiana as a music teacher.

What happened next is hard to explain, but he ended up on the Navaho Indian Reservation, trying to teach in the schools provided by the BIA (the Bureau of Indian Affairs) a large Federal institution.

The conditions there were terrible. They didn't even have enough toilet paper. My Brother became a Community Organizer, trying to improve the Navaho (and their schools) whether they wanted to be improved or not!

The BIA had a teacher's union, and he became a union organizer, leading parades in Indian towns!  As I write this, I can hardly believe this happened.

He realized to be effective he needed a law degree, so he went back to school (in the ASU) and got a law degree, and joined the Arizona Bar.

But there were no jobs doing this kind of work, so he went back to work on the other side of the fence, defending organizations from their employees! There was money doing this, and he became part of a Law Firm, in Flagstaff, AZ.

Working hard, but making lots of money - to the delight of his family.
