I feel uneasy about some of the newer uses of this word, which make it synonymous with "having fun", or even "being stupid". 

In my job as a Technical Writer, I frequently had to explain things, But I found many people did not want to understand what I was trying to say. 

I saw there were people who wanted to learn and those that did not (the larger group by far). 

The companies I worked for wanted to sell as many of their products as possible and thought I was responsible for the poor sales. 

It was a while before they learned what was going on - that most people cannot understand how a computer works. 

They are stupid in this context. And they are likely to stay that way.
